Gill Knight

Activity Manager

I was born near Manchester, and have been a Manchester City fan all of my life. However, I was brought up in West Somerset and have spent most of my life in the South West of England, living for 9 years on the Island of Tresco on the Isles of Scilly, (28 miles off Land's End). I have one son who is studying Sports Science at Exeter University, and a working Cocker Spaniel dog called Hattie. At the school, I am currently a Gill of all trades as I help with student accommodation & welfare and oversee activities, driving and guiding for adult students..

Hobbies & Interests
I enjoy all sports and I coach junior hockey. I spend my free time cycling, or walking on Dartmoorand on the coast path.

Favourite Place in Devon
Tavy Cleave Waterfall – deep in the moor, or Churston Cove on the coastal path near Brixham.

Favourite Book:
I wish I could make time to read. However, I read this book many moons ago and will one day read it again: Skallagrigg, by William Horwood

Favourite Film:
I’m a sucker for a rom com, and love 'Pretty Woman' and 'Notting Hill', or any period drama.

Favourite English Food:
Scotch Eggs from Halls Butcher's in Totnes. You really must try them warm!

Favourite Place to Eat out:
Shoals Fish Bistro – overlooking the outdoor swimming pool in Brixham – watching the sun set

Advice to Students:
Don’t worry about making mistakes, - just make an effort and keep trying to talk English
