Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE)

This exam can be taken in March, June, August and December. Cambridge English Advanced (CAE) is a demanding test for good C1 Advance level students. Students starting the course should already have a high B2 Upper-intermediate level and ideally have already passed Cambridge English First (FCE). CAE is an important, internationally - recognised qualification with widespread acceptance in commerce and industry. Students attend the course for 23 hours a week - 15 general and 8 hours exam preparation.

Courses commence 8, 9 or 12 weeks before the examination date. You will follow a syllabus that has been carefully designed to take you step-by-step up to the required level. You will be carefully monitored by tests and tutorials by your class teacher and the Director of Studies, and you will receive homework daily. As the exam date approaches, you will be given mock interviews and plenty of practice using past examination papers.

Since 2005, over 90 Devon School students have taken the CAE test after completing the course - 76% of them achieved A, B or C passes.

Please be advised, there is an £8 fee added to all transactions to cover international bank charges. A non-refundable enrolment fee of £77 applies to all course bookings, plus a £41 accommodation booking fee. If you have any other questions, please CONTACT US and we will do our best to help.

Please note: IF YOU ARE UNDER 18 AND BOOKING ON AN ADULT COURSE, you will be unsupervised outside your lesson times. Outside of these lessons, for example, during the 30 minute morning coffee break and 60 minute lunch break, you will not be supervised and will have free time in the afternoons after lessons, in the evenings and at weekends. A member of staff will check with you each day what your plans are for your free time, and you will also have a meeting once a week with our Welfare Officer to check that all is OK with your stay. You will be given a brightly-coloured wristband to wear with an emergency telephone number on it. A SIGNED PARENTAL CONSENT FORM must be submitted for an under 18 student attending an adult course.

We do provide information and support for the students on staying safe in their free time, and a wide range of afternoon and evening activities and day trips at weekend are organized by the school – students need to book and pay for these individually. There are full day excursions organized at the weekends, and students can book and pay for these during the week. It is also possible by arrangement for you to join some of the activities of our teenager school which runs in parallel (again on a pay-as-you-go basis).
